Archna School Academy

18000 sqft- total site area, built up area- 35,000sqft. The School is located in a Rural part of Jaipur, Sirsi. The brief stipulated a design for a sustainable campus that would be set within a modest institutional framework and prepare students for a future. The planning strategy focussed on sensitively preserving and integrating an existing block. The courtyard is placed at the center of the building which is the focal point of the school.

All classes of the school have a direct connection with the courtyard. Courtyard serves purposes where they maximize interior relationships and openness while keeping the outside separate. This is also a source of air flow and thermal comfort to the school. Air circulation within this confined space relies largely on the proportions of the surrounding walls and positioning of window openings in the surrounding classes. Breeze and shading in the courtyard help in creating comfortable living conditions during day.

The double height lobby creates grand entrance view. All the exterior textures are kept rough so they reflect sunlight as much as possible and reduce heat gains in summers. Large windows area placed in north direction of the school to maximize the air flow and avoid direct sunlight.
